The Giants made a foul bypass signing Zito to this kind of lengthy settlement. Pitchers are like fragle eggs. no count number how good he's or would nicely be...NO pitcher should be signed for that lengthy by way of very last intrest of the crew. proper get at the same time is Kevin Brown. He signed a very lengthy settlement and he replaced right into a good pitcher (at the same time as he signed it) and as he were given older he had complications. basically about all pitchers have complications at the same time as the grow old. Pedro is having some complications now. Clemens had some leg complications. he's an excellent pitcher yet ANY crew must have insisted on 5 years with possibly 2 selection years, with some guarentees that ought to immediately invoke those selection years. which could were smarter. Barry Zito also must have went to the Mets. more beneficial crew, larger market, and a good center of youthful gamers to all develope at the same time for the subsequent 5+ years. Plus i'm a Mets Fan

Zito has won 20 games once. The rest of his career has been decent to sub par. He's always been overrated and is NOT worth $18 million a year.

As for the Giants. Zito will give them more or less wins than what Schmidt did 11 to 15. Giants finish in 3rd place at best.

Zito will definetely bolster the Giants rotation, but he basically replaces Jason Schmidt. He may earn a couple more wins than Schmidt would have, but thats about it. The Giants failed to sign a bat this off season, and they lost Moises Alou. The Dodgers made more moves this off season, and they should be the favorites next year.

I'm glad the Mets didn't sign him. That's a lot of money for 7 years. The Mets can spend their money on two or three young pitchers for that kind of money. It would have been nice to have him in a Met uniform, but not for $126 M. Why too much money to spend on a good, but not great pitcher.

I'm glad that the Yankees didn't sign him. 126 Million is a lot of money and his record against the AL east teams is horrendous. He used all of the teams that were talking to him to raise the anti. It's a typical Boras ploy.
Good for the Giants they need more than him to win.

I doubt it because I think Zito wants to go to a team that actually has a chance to win a world series like the yankees and Mets. Since they have a lot of money, he will probably go to one of them.

Good for the Bay Area to keep one of it's favorite athletes. Good for the Giants to get a good pitcher and great bay area name to keep fans in the seats at AT&T Park.

Bad for the Giants that they spent too much............only 1 pitcher worth that much right now and his name is Johan Santana.

As long as he gets kept off the yankees i'm happy, but i don't think zito is gonna be enough to carry the team. they're hitting isn't great.
