It depends on how debilitating it is. I mean, if you can eat a little here and there, it feels bad, but most of the time, it will ease up in the second trimester.

If it's so bad, though, that you can't hold down food or water, talk to your doctor. My doctor is WAY conservative, and he put me on Zofran for my morning (all day) sickness. The stuff really killed the nausea.

If it's not that bad, though, I would recommend club soda, bland foods, and only things that sound good to you.

Congrats on your pregnancy, and rest assured, most of the worst will be over soon. :)

Sorry girl but I was the same I had all day sickness from 5 weeks preg to 6 months preg!! I had to go to the hospital 3 x's for dehydration. I will let you know if it is very bad you need to talk to the doc about med's!! They will help some but will not make it go away. I think it just makes you very sleepy so you can sleep more with out being bothered by getting sick. I know they all say this but it is somewhat true... eat small meals...do bland foods like crackers..gram crackers..I liked small amounts of meat ( when I could handle it), I did preggy pops( get them from pregnancy stores) they work better than all the other crap they sell to get rid of morning sickness. Avoid lighting candles and being around anything with a strong smell..including foods. If you can not keep down water..try Gatorade in small amounts ( like a teaspoon at a time) If you go 12+ hrs throwing up everything including water you need to call your doc ASAP so you do not get dehydrated.

Ahh, yes, the gool ol' "morning sickness". My wife and I went through this twice, and both times, the "trick" to relief was different. The reason you're feeling sick is the surge of hormones running through your body; most stomachs don't really appreciate them as much as the developing baby does.

The universal truths to helping nausea are: small meals, reducing exposure to unpleasant smells (you'll find your nose becomes more sensitive during pregnancy), and plenty of rest. Trial and error is the rest: find the foods that your stomach handles best.

Also, there are some (rather unpleasant) medications out there to help with severe nausea. Unfortunately, most of them tend to go where the sun don't shine... some weird fixation by the drug makers perhaps? :-)

If your nausea is interfering with your ability to live a normal life, then by all means, see your Ob/Gyn. Taking nausea medication sucks (and when you're the happy husband who has to administer it in its proper location, it sucks even more) -- but all-day nausea isn't normal or healthy. Call your doctor.

Usually through the 12 week as your body adjusts to the new hormone levels morning sickness can be bad. However, since you are experiencing this ALL day, I would definitely ask your doctor about it. You could become dehydrated, have electrolyte imbalances and your baby may not be receiving all the nutrients that are important for developing organs (which are completed by 3 months). Please call and make an appointment ASAP with your doctor.

I see you've gotten lots of answers, but nothing about acupunctor. Check out this website. I used these bands and they helped SO MUCH! Here are a few other ideas:
1. preggo pops-BabysRUs.
2. Drinking warm jello. It coats your stomach so that the extra acid doesn't add to the nausea.
3. Watch what you eat-check out other website for this.
4. Get exercise-walking for sure. It'll help you stay strong which will help you fit the nausea.
Good luck!

Been there done that.I threw up all the way through my first pregnancy.I found that ginger ale and soda crackers helped a lot. Also I found that if a ate many really small meals{so basically I ate all the time} instead of just a few big one it helped. While you are feeling queasy,And are hungry try soup instead of something heavy. Ask your Dr as there are medications that you can take to help with "morning sickness"

Treat it like you'd treat any other sickness. Drink some Sprite or Ginger ale, they settle your stomach. And if you get hungry, eat some Saltines, just don't go plowing through the box! But them in a small bowl, and when you're done with that follow the first answer to your Q. If you get a headache, take some IB profane (Advil, Motrin, etc.) Stay in bed and watch some movies, but keep an old bowl nearby just in case...

Congratulations and good luck with your new baby!!!

I feel your pain too.It will probably eventually go away by the second trimester.I know it's horrible. This is due to all those pregnancy hormones rushing through your body. Those hormones are all new inside there and just kind of taking over.Yes,try the crackers and like sprite(caffeine Free)I chewed a lot of sugar free gum it seem to settle my stomach a bit and it also helps with the heartburn.Good luck to ya!

heres what i did. start drinking diet ginger ale. its caffine and sugar free and the ginger helps with the sickness. when ever you get up do it as slow as possible. eat slow and walk slow and try not to move your head to fast. stay away from anything with a bad odor. good luck and it does not last forever soon you will feel better.
