34.74-26.9 = 7.84

29.14498%

If your stock went up from $26.90 to $34.74, you gained $7.84 per share, or just a little over 29%. to do it the hard way, multiply (on your calculator) 26.90 x 10% and gradually increase it until you come up with the closest percentage point to the increase. This is the down and dirty way of doing it, and not how the stock market does it, but you did ask!

well to find a percent of a number you make it into an equation.

ok so like this:

What percent of 34.74 is 26.90?

WP X's 34.74 = 26.90

divide by 34.74 to get the unknown by itself.

you end up with about 8 dollars.

hope that helps.

How are you gonna pick a best answer if you don't know which the best one is?

Ok, you started with 26.90 and now have 34.74 for an increase of 7.84.

Next multiply 7.84 by 100 then divide by 26.90 to get result in percent.

784/26.9 = 29.14%

Divide $26.90 by $34.74 and it gives you 0.77, which you convert to a percent by moving the decimal two places to the right...giving you 77% I think that is right.

Oh dear...how did you get 23%....that's definately not it hun. This is how you do it:

Take 34.74 and subtract 26.90...you get 7.84...take 7.84 and divide it by 26.90 to get ~0.2914(etc.)...move the decimal place....it went up 29.14%

Blunt Honesty's answer and method is correct. I just got out of a chemistry class where we had to do percents all the time. It went up 29.14%

Between 20-30 percent. I'm totally estimating.

29%.

34.74 - 26.90 = 7.84

7.84 / 26.90 * 100 = 29%

2006-12-28 04:49:51 · answer #9 · answered by leilis4 4 · 1 1

34.74/ 26.9 = 1.2914498

29% increase!

Everyone else seems to have much more complicated equations.

Am I being thick?
