María Eva Duarte de Perón (May 7, 1919 – July 26, 1952) was the second wife of Argentine President Juan Domingo Perón (1895–1974) and the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952. She is often referred to as simply Eva Perón, or by the Spanish language diminutive Evita, which translates into English as "Little Eva".

Born out of wedlock in rural Argentina in 1919, at age 15 Eva Duarte made her way to the nation's capital of Buenos Aires where she pursued a career as a stage, radio, and film actress. Eva met Colonel Juan Perón in 1944 at a charity event in San Juan, Argentina. The two married in 1945. Eva Perón became involved in Argentine politics in 1946 shortly after Juan Perón's first election as President of Argentina. Over the course of the next six years, Eva Perón became powerful within the Pro-Peronist trade unions. Eventually, she founded the charitable Eva Perón Foundation, and the nation's first large-scale female political party, the Female Peronist Party. In 1951, Eva Perón expressed a desire to be allowed to run for the office of Vice-President of Argentina. In this bid she received great support from the Peronist public, or descamisados. However, opposition from the nation's military and elite, as well as her declining health, ultimately prevented Eva Perón's candidacy. In 1952, shortly before her death, Eva Perón was given the official title of "Spiritual Leader of the Nation". [1] [2] [3]

Various sources and scholars claim that Eva Perón was the most powerful and important woman in the history of her nation [4], while some claim that at the time of her death she was the most powerful woman in Latin America. Some claim that she was one of the most powerful women on earth. [5][6][7]

Buenos Aires is an amazing town; it's an astonishing area that looks a bit like Europe, but by having an edgy Latin American twist and if you wish to visit that city then have a look with hotelbye . El Puerto Madero is a place properly visited. It served as the key slot of Buenos Aires through the late 19th century but know is turned into buildings that would be used as residences, restaurants, shops and different firms and to offer that project a bit of style, all streets in the region were named following women. Strolling through the Puerto Madero is a great way to pay a nice afternoon just like visiting El Obelisco. El Obelisco was built in 1936 to observe the 400th anniversary of the city founding and now is a must-see place from Buenos Aires.

So much of her early life was covered up as she rose to power. During her time as an 'entertainer' during which she met Peron it is likely she was a prostitute. Of course, once she was first lady it would have been an embarrassing fact and so would have been suppressed.

Gooodddddd Daaaaaaamn. That is the longest answer I've ever seen. Definately a cut and paste job there.

I agree: a YES or NO would of sufficed. Not a history's worth.

And those kind aren't worth reading or giving the 10 points too.

it was never recorded that she gave it away so as there was a charge, in my book thats called prostitution.

I visited Argentina shortly after she ferll off her perch and we dare not even say her name for fear of being whipped with a short length of wire rersembling a bike spoke all the policemen carried in a special pocket set in their trouser leg from the knee downward. One swift whack across the face from one of these took the fight out of any man. All the crew of my ship converted to roman catholisim, mainly as they served beer in their mission rooms where the flying angel was dry.
