Tell them to brush tongue in the back. Gargle with a good mouth rinse. If the person has tonsils, food can get trapped in the crypts and cause the bad breath. Use a toothbrush back there in the laryngeal area. The stuff will be in the crypts of the tonsils and will have a yellowish color. It is simply food that has been trapped there and creates a very nasty smell. You can use a q-tip to remove the lodged junk.

If the person has bad teeth or a rotten tooth, this will also cause bad breath. Many foods will also cause bad breath. There are chlorophyll tablets you can take to improve the breath which can also come from the stomach.

Best wishes.

Ok, bad breath is not always due to higine, it could be due to diet. If its due to higine the things they need to do to get rid of it is brush (teeth, gums and toung), floss, and use mouth wash. If its due to diet, well you have to identify whats going wrong there yourself, because its causes rages from everything you can eat to everything you eat, each body has different things that set it off, some people are meat, while others are onions, you just can't tell, there are some products out there that claim they can curve the effects of none mouth bad breath, I don't know any of them or if they work or not though. The entire digestive track can make a stink at one point or another, from the mouth to the, well you know, you just have to figure out whats the cause of the stink.

Brush teeth more then once a day for start. Dont use mouth wash cause believe it or not mouth wash especially listerine kills not only bacteria but taste buds as well making bad breath worse. Chew on chewing gun. Spearmint, Peppermint. If your in a place like school that doesnt allow gum chewing try altoids and i dont mean them sour flavored ones. You want the real altoids. I wouldnt recommend mouth sprays. Their bad breath problem could be something more serious such as gum disease causing breath to stink or sometimes people could be taking prescription drugs that sometimes cause funky breath. Tell your friend but dont be rude about it .

You can do what the others said: brush teeth, gums, tounge but you will also need to scrape your tounge. The doctor told me that would help and not to use mints that have sugar as it only increases the problem You can buy the tounge scraper at a discount store or pharmacy. Use it daily. Also, salt water to gargle will help along with the other.

Some medications a person takes can cause bad breath also.

It could also be a sign of some dental problems that need to be addressed before they lead to more serious problems. An unhealthy mouth can cause a lot of internal infections, which lead to all sorts of medical problems.

Talk to your friend about your concerns for their health. Hopefully they have insurance and can go see their doctor and/or dentist about it.

Flossing twice a day is key.

Everyone brushes. Many omit flossing as part of their routine. The world knows who they are.

Start with a good cleaning at the Dentist's office. Then try using the new flossers shaped like a violin bow. After you get the hang of it, you could use them anywhere without tying up your fingers.
