Man if everyone who answered this question is a liberal then they are definately confused about their political philosophy. Some people need to research political philosophy and decide exactly where they stand. Modern liberalism would totally shun the philosophy these quotes are based on.

To a degree, perhaps. But consider that liberals in general want MORE government rather than less (save the Libertarians), in order to legitemize their causes (read - ACLU, etc.)
