As a realist I see the glass as half empty.
I also am I that believes no matter how good things are they can be better.
I guess in some ways that makes me a perfectionist but it's what I am.

I lived my life seeing the world as half empty for many years and they were wasted years of self pity, and a poor me attitude, which is a self fulfilling thing.............! The more you think like that the more bad stuff you attract into your existence. Now I live the half full life and life becomes something of an adventure. Whats around the corner, who am I going to meet. I laugh more, jokes are funnier, people amuse and enlighten me. My life is still kind of crappy in many ways..... the problems are still there, but I don't cry and complain, or whine for attention. I see what makes me happy and pray about the rest.

Well, if I'm filling it up, I would say that it's half full. If I'm emptying it out, I would say half empty.

But really, if I saw a glass lying on the table, I would say half full, because that's the way I logically look at things. I notice what's there before I notice what's absent.

I see the glass at the halfway point -- i.e., neither positively nor negatively. I don't really think life is inherently good or bad: Good and bad things happen to everyone, no one lives a life that is perfectly good or perfectly bad. So I really think to say you're an optimist or a pessimist is to admit you're biased and don't necessarily see reality for what it is. In the real world, good and bad things happen to everyone, and to expect one over the other doesn't make much sense to me.

someone actually asked me this one before. let's say that you have an empty glass. if you fill it half way, it's half full. if you fill it all the way and then pour out half of it, it's half empty. that's my logic. i don't think that there is any psychological meaning to that question.

half full because if u go though life seeing it half empty then your probally a pessimistic person who will look at things from the bad side instead of the good side.

on the other hand it is half full and half empty tecnically but philosophically i would say half full!

My nature is to be optimistic and I was true to that up until a few years ago. After experiencing being taken advantage of and looked at as "stupid" for hoping for the best in life, I saw myself becoming pessimistic. I want to hope and believe and dream for the best in myself and people. I won't life a hopeless life, because that's a choice. I choose to have faith that there's more good than bad and that the universe wants me to succeed.

It's relative. If I want more of something it's half-empty. If I want to be rid of something it's half-full. Case in point: Damn, my glass of beer is half-empty. Damn, again, my glass of beet juice is still half-full.

Half-full when I am hopeful or give someone else hope.

Half-empty when I am frustrated and losing hope.
