My mother wants me to drop out of college, but I just LOVE learning so much. I even want to get a scholarship to graduate school! My question is... is it worth it to stay in college? I'll have about $60,000 to pay off at the end.

In most cases, the eldest of the family has to quit school and start work early to support the family thus giving the opportunities to the younger one at home.

Why would mom want you to drop out of college? Is it financial? You can never get too much education, and if you have the love of learning and want to stay in school, it would be a sin to leave. If you go into teaching, the more education you have, the better pay. Actually, any field, the more credits, credentials you have, the more you are to advance in your career. Education is looked upon as a bonus in life. You can never have too much!

It's your decision, none can make it for you. I would keep on learning, but that's an awful lot of money to pay off. So, I would probably drop out and get a job that pays pretty good, and when you have enough money, you could continue in college. Meantime, while you are working a job, get lots of books. That's what I would do. Hope you find the opinion useful!

Why would your mother want you to drop out? And I would say if you want to stay, then stay, you are old enough to make this decision on your own and if it is a goal you are trying to accomplish then continue on with it. Yes college is expensive and the money is hard, but in the end if it is what you want you must go for it! Sounds like you really want this....so good luck

Yes it is worth it to stay in college. Make sure to learn some marketable skills before you get out. Make sure to do some internships where you get real-world experience. College is a great time in your life, but unfortunately it doesn't always prepare you for the real workforce.

If your mother is paying for college, it is her right to question your performance and future earning potential, but if you are doing this yourself through work and loans she should keep her ideas to herself.

OH HELL YES!

If you don't do it now you will being doing it twenty years from now when you hit the occupational ceiling.

Put in for every scholarship you can find on the Internet, there's a few (note sarcasm).

Worst case scenario, if the student loan bothers you, find a job that will offer tuition reimbursement. Big companies will probably have college programs in the hope you will stay with them.
