That's the Fibonacci sequence.

Each term is the sum of the 2 terms before it.

1 + 1 = 2
1 + 2 = 3
2 + 3 = 5
3 + 5 = 8
5 + 8 = 13
....

This series is called fibonacci series. In this series each number is the sum of the 2 numbers before it
1,1,2 -> 2=1+1
1.1.2.3 -> 3=2+1
1,1,2,3,5-> 5=3+2
so on
so the next number is 5+8 = 13
