Response to previous answerers: Even when I was a married 19-year-old I was aware I was still a kid in many ways. At 54, I'm even more sure 19 year olds are kids. This is not disrespect for young people, it's just a recognition of the stages of life. We don't all suddenly become wise 90-year-olds just because we're suddenly of legal age.
As for why kids have to die, I believe that people leave this world for different reasons:
to remind others how fragile life can be,
when they have accomplished whatever other purpose they had here,
when they are needed in heaven or in another form on this earth or another world, and
probably dozens of other reasons God knows but I'll never figure out.
Experiences I have had over the years convince me that heaven does exist, and that it is a place of pure joy and peace. Mourn your loss, yes, but trust they are in a good place, too.

I don't understand it either. My son is 15 and has lost his good friend in Nov from a gunshot wound, 2 girls in a car accident and another in another car accident.
It is hard to deal with because as his parent, I have not lost any of my friends at his age and it is difficult. There are no reasons that can justify all these deaths in teeanagers really, some though are careless and not thinking and others is just not fair.
I sympathize with you and as times go on, you will ge through this but you won't forget. That is the main thing is to remember all the good times.

I don't know why things happen in this world and I guess this is one of those things we will never figure out. When I was in high school we had a period of 6 months that we had some form of death, being car accidents, suicides and I knew almost all of them. That whole year was horrible and depressing. I got through it by remembering them and what made them happy. To live life to the fullest I could because life is too short. I am so sorry for your losses. Hang in there and enjoy life.

I do not know the reason why any child has to die but I am very sorry to hear about your friends and family. I hope that you recover from your sadness soon. I don't know what to say really because anything that people say about someone who dies is usually pathetic, well meaning, but only you can understand your own loss. I guess hugs help so here is a great big hug.

I guess its just their time, but it is so sad. Last thanksgiving a 16 year old guy that went to my school got ran over by a car while he was on his bike, and just last summer (not even a year ago) a 13 year old guy that I knew that sat next to me in gym class everyday last year in school got hit by a car when he was on his bike also neither of them were their fault really the cars just didn't see them :(

Some questions there aren't any answers for. Some it was the result of a bad judgement call on their part, others it was entirely because of someone else's mistake. Sometimes there were no mistakes, it just happens. All we can do is pick up and carry on, and if they were important to us, not let them out of our lives. If they were special friends of yours, maybe ask their parents if you could have something of theirs to remember them by. It'll hurt at first, but eventually the hurt goes away and you remember the special things about them when you see it. It lets you keep them in your life in a small way, and makes sure they aren't forgotten.

Nothing happens without a reason. My daughter passed. She was my world, but in spite of the terrible loss I still feel, I really feel that she was taken home to spare her from future hurts and I know that she is in a better place. My heart goes out to you for your loss.Know that GOD is in charge. It is so hard to understand why these things happen, so make every day count. Do remember them in your prayers and be thankful for every day. It is GOD'S gift to you.

Although you see them as "kids", these 19 year old legal adults clearly made choices that had fatal results. I'm sorry for your loss, but this was different than a four year old dying of cancer.
