Aren't we dissing Sammy Baugh just because he played in the 1940's? If this guy were around today with a modern sophisticated passing offense, he'd be throwing 50 TD passes every year. Oh yeah he'd also be the all-pro punter and a pro-bowl safety if he had the time.

His passer rating in 1945 was 110 for crying out loud -- in the stone age of pro football offense. I say he deserves mad props.

No argument here. Sammy was an amazing quarterback and all round athlete. He would be an all pro today and no telling how many yards or touching passes he would have today with the new pro style offenses. My guess is that he would be at least one of the best if not the best. Otto Graham is another quarterback from years ago that I believe would have been great today. It's too bad that great players like Mr. Baugh are often overlooked because of the era they played in and not given their due respect. Everybody seems to think that players of the past could not compete with today's athlete but I'm not one of them. Slingin Sammy Baugh was great then and would be great now in my opinion. Nice question sir!

you are right that he was a great QB. but i don't think you can assume that he would pass all over the defenses of the NFL today.

and there is no way that he would punt or play defense.... the NFL isn't arena football
