So far, nothing has been proven. There is no real reason that circumcision is more hygienic or susceptible to infection - and even if it does, that doesn't negate the need to wash, or practice safe sex. There are also said to be some disadvantages - a lot of people who get it done as adults say sex is worse afterwards (although not all) and there can be complications from the surgery. These complications are often more common than the "foreskin problems" that circumcision prevents. sweet stuff is wrong about the STDs - some studies show you have a slightly lower rate of catching them if circumcised (but it's still quite possible), but the rate of giving them to your partner is pretty much the same in all types of men, because most STDs are transmitted through semen. Apparently recovery takes a long time and hurts, yes.
