you can be nice and polite to people, while remaining a little distant and not completely finding friends. if you are uncapable of this, it means that you shouldn't be a loner because it is easier to have friends.

Being alone/loner is not a good idea- let me tell you. I am a loner for the most part, and I wasn't the one to make it that way. I'd tell you more, but I'd rather do it in person. But, it's not a good idea at all. If you want to talk about it, let me know: im1friend@yahoo.com

The best way to do this is to be friendly when others approach you. You do not need to approach others - the loner part of you but when others approach you be nice to them. You will then come across as likable instead of distant.

Why do you care if people still like you if you want to be a loner?

You want to be a loner, but you want people to like you? You must need an ego boost. Sounds like you want people to clamor for your friendship, just so you'll feel cool when you blow them off.
