I personally think that honesty IS the best policy, all of the time. Even though someone might get hurt, I think that it's better than to lie about something because in the long run, the lies will be found and it will make a situation worse than it might have already been. I think that if a person is honest no matter how bad or good, it makes them a better person than a person who lies about things. Honesty is the best way to everything!

Honesty is always the best policy. Depending on the message that needs to be delivered, you may be able to avoid causing pain by how you deliver the message. It sounds like the message you have to deliver is one that is uncomfortable for you, which makes you more likely to deliver it badly. I would take some time, and think about the reason the message exists, and the amount of energy you want to spend when delivering it and find a method that will make sure both parties get some of what they are needing in the discussion.

Yes, it's always better.Nothing worse than breaking your back under the burden of a secret you can't cope with. Trying to protect the person who might get hurt is a noble cause but in the long run, you're only protecting the villain.
It's your duty to tell the truth and the pain you might cause is not your responsibility.

I'd say 99.9% of the time yes. Sometimes people's feelings get hurt, but chances are a discovered lie would hurt even worse.

Better to say nothing than to lie.

Who needs the bad karma anyway?

If someone is going to be hurt by honesty it is a matter of when, not if.

One truth leads to another and is much easier to carry then a pack of lies.
