Need to know if you think its to early for a hpt to show up postive. My last period was on Dec 12 I have had all the sypmtoms of pregnacy, nasuea, sore breast, lower back pain, slgiht cramping, and sleepiness. I want to be pregnant but I took a test it came back neg the one before had a slight postive line. Yes for all the smart asses who are going to ask me if I had sex. Thanks for your help.

A urine pregnancy test works by measuring the amount of hCG (pregnancy hormone) in your urine. Typically you need to have missed your period for these to be accurate, particularly a positive result. That said, if you have a positive a couple of days before this missed period, hCG has been detected and you are pregnant.
Since the tests have become more sensitive, more and more women will have positive results earlier. That leaves the problem of taking a pregnancy test prior to your missed period and getting a negative result.
If you get a negative result and you have tested prior to your missed period, you will need to wait a couple of days and retest. The negative result may not necessarily be because you took the test "too soon". Make sure you take the test in the morning ("first urine") and that your urine has been in your bladder at *least* 4 hours.

Very highly unlikely that a test would show already if your last period started on Dec 12. However, if it ended on Dec 12 then it may be possible.
If you are pregnant, then you ovulate very early. For a 28 day cycle (your cycle begins the first day of your period and ends the day before your next period) the typical woman ovulates between day 10-16 of their cycle. The egg is then fertilized, and 6-12 days past ovulation, implantation occurs. About 3 days after that you should be able to get an accurate result.
Just make sure you read the test within the time limits so you don't get an evaporation line, which is a false positive. Good luck.

If you read the HPT directions it says that for best results that you should go 19 days after the known date of sex. I know you are excited about trying to get pregnant but just give a couple of more days to have the HPT be more accurate.

Use the at-home test called First Response. It detects the pregnancy hormone earlier than any other test, like 12 days before your period is due. I used it. Note: 2 lines means pregnant...the second line will be faint...I took like 6 tests before I called the company and they told me that the line won't be dark but very faint. Good luck!

No, it's too soon. You have to wait until at least the week your period is due. You are due in 12 days. I would test next week around the 4th. Good luck.

If your last period was normal, you probably aren't preggers. Wait until it's closer to your next period and take another test.
