Women Who Made It On Their Own (Or Who Are On Their Way)?

I am working on a story about "women who made it on their own (or who are on their way)." I'm still in the brainstorming stages, but I would like some input from other women. I don't know yet if it will be a fiction or non-fiction book, or one I'll ever be able to finish, but I'd like to try. If you have overcome difficult obstacles in your life and would like to share your story, I'd like to hear about it. Please post a brief synopsis and I'll explore further with you.
