I need some career advice.?

I have been out of college for 4 years. My problem is that I applied to be a food supervisor at my alma mater twice and was denied twice. The first time was because I didn't have enough management experience and they didn't feel I was outgoing enough. So I worked as a supervisor in the cafeteria for a year and I started working more on being outgoing. Ever since then, I haven't been able to get a management position in foodservice because I don't have the experience but I can't get the experience if no one will hire me. On interviews, when I explain this dilemma, they say they understand but they don't hire me. So this time around, I was sure I would get the job because I had the experience and I practiced on my interview skills and how to answer questions. Then I was told that they didn't hire me because they feel I should get some experience outside of the school (I have been working there on and off for 9 years). I'm ready to leave but I have no money. What should I do next?

Focus on a special talent you have.. be it baking cakes or making special sauces.. or whatever you are most interested in. Go outside your school cafeteria and look at private restaurants. You may have to start low but in the long run you have better future than where you are now.

Get a second job for the experience and keep the first one as a form of security until you are comfortable with your new job. After a year or two you should be able to make your move. Another positive about getting that second job is that you are showing future employers how dedicated you are to succeed.

do you just do supervision stuff or what?

if you actually cook, you should go be a head chef at a country club or something like that...that'd probably be some good experience
