The great thing about the movie "raat" is that you won't find scary faces inorder to frighten you. Pure sound effects from a quality director.

I'm not sure about calling it the most frightning movie ever, but I have to vote for the one that gave me weird nightmares after seeing it the first time.... and my fav...

28 days later.

The realization behind it, and the freaky zombies with the family and the guys trying to rape the girls.... It's got a little of everything that would scare the hell outta anyone IF it were real.... Just think - One of these days these stupid scientists are going to come up with a virus (AIDS style) that could wipe out the entire population. It could happen.... THAT'S why this movie is the scariest...

The Exorcist.

It's been my all time favorite horror movie (since it's actually scary unlike a lot of modern era horrors). I was even more impressed after I watched the documentary on tv that aired when the 4th movie/prequel came out. I had no idea how popular it was in the theaters and the effect it was having on the audiences. Nothing's come out since then that has had that much of an impact.

But, I do love the Evil Dead movies too :)

Although Evil Dead is a great film, I find it almost more funny than frightening. The original Night of the Living Dead was scary as heck the first time I saw it.

paranormal activity was boring, Orphan was dull. Not really any horror movies out there that i consider horrific. Seen tons of horror movies. Pretty much all the newer movies are the same. Orphan was too predictable, had it figured out long before the ending of the movie. Aliens movies pretty good.

Evil Dead movies are very good but don't you find them a little funny? Maybe that only started with number 2 on.
I vote for Halloween 1.
