i own a repair shop, and i bought one because it was cheap,,i got a big surprise when we started driving it,,we found it to be a real good car,,at the time we was strapped for money, and figured this was the best buy,,that car out lasted every other car i have ever owned before it was a 81 fiat strada ,and little did we know that it was going to run perfect for 6 strait years without giving any problems at all,i mean nothing,,just oil changes and maintenance,,it pulled us out of a hard time, but at the time i bought it by choice,,it was the cheapest one i could find, there probably one of the best little cars made ,,i wish right now i had it back,,it was really cheap too operate also,,and the price of buying it was super cheap, good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

A bit of both.
Ive still got one that I bought 26 years ago, plus 4 others bought recently.
I suppose I'm lucky in that I like the Italian style (of some models !) and they really are a good 2nd hand vehicle price wise, and the reliability is not an issue nowadays.
I wouldnt advise any thick chav's to have them though.. only intelligent people !.

i got banned from driving last year back then i had a st24 v6 mondeo when i tried to insure my old car i was basically laughed at so i swollowed my pride and gave my car to my girlfriend and i took her little cinquecento sporting, i must admit i wanted to wear a mask for the first few weeks as my friends had expected me to be driving some big flash motor but then i started to enjoy it low revs it would out accelorate the mondeo and was the best fun to drive it is like having a go cart with a roof,i can honestly say i love it and i would go back ive just spent nearly 1000 on the car and the thing goes like stink my advice by a cinquecento sporting they might look like rooler boots but never underestimate the power of a cinq!

They usually sell on "Style" which is the market they aim for in the UK. Yes they are comparitively cheap, but on the whole, they are a lot more reliable than in years gone by, and share technology with Vauxhall in their new cars. They do offer great deals, due to the fact they run at a loss in the UK market, and have major financial problems worldwide.

Fiat doesn't mean "Fix It Again Tony" for nothing, it's purely for price, but I don't think they represent value with the amount of after care needed.

By price - my first car was a Cinq for sub £900.
Oh the faults... windscreen would scratch with wipers, seat mover handle came off in hand, cam making a chub-chub-chub noise when cold, leaking oil on the floor, etc etc etc.
But it was a hoot to slide at 30mph in the wet.

I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole. I was in one once as a passenger and, when I tried to open the rear side window - it fell out onto the road - complete with the frame!
