I personally think the 1986 Celtics, with Bird, Parish, DJ, McHale, Ainge, and Walton, was the best team and could defeat anybody in the past or present. What does everyone else think and why?

The 85-86 Celtics were, in my opinion, the greatest single season team in history. To compare the '96 Bulls to this team is laughable. This Celtic team would have mopped the floor with ANY of Jordan's Bulls teams.

First off, you had the greatest starting frontcourt EVER (Bird, McHale, Parish), all healthy and in the prime of their careers, the greatest backup center in history (Walton), an outstanding backcourt ( Ainge and Dennis Johnson), and a solid bench (Wedman, Sichting, Vincent). They had 5 perennial Hall of Famers, all playing at their best.

Secondly, they had the greatest homecourt record ever (50-1, including 10-0 in the playoffs). Not even the 72-10 Bulls could match this record.

The 1996 Bulls benefitted from expansion. In 1986, there was only 23 teams. In 1996, there were 29. That's 25% more teams. Plus there were 2 first year teams that accounted for 6 of the Bulls 72 wins. Fact is, teams were better and deeper in 1986. Chicago would not have come close to winning 70 games in the 1980's.

The only teams that might give the 86 Celtics trouble would be the 66-67 Philly team and the 71-72 Lakers, or possibly Magic's 87 Laker championship team from the following year. Although, had Len Bias lived, the Lakers would not have won that championship.

Without a doubt, the 95-96 Bulls. They went 72-10!!! Think about that. 25 out of the 30 NBA Teams have at least 10 losses this season already, and only one team in the East, where the Bulls are, have less than 10 losses and that's the 9 loss Pistons. One loss for them and we'd be talking 10 losses for every team in the East and we're 2 months from the All Star Break. How are the 95-96 Bulls not the best??

Yeah I tend to agree with you on the Celtics of 1986...
You had Bird (one of the greatest of all time), McHale one of the best post-up players of all time..it was one of the most complete teams ever to play...It's hard to disagree with a team that had a 40-1 home record...and they competed in a much stronger league with a lot more parity...

I think it was the showtime Lakers in general and that the 1985 team was on of the best. The celtics and bulls were also good at certain times in the 80s and a bit throughout the 90s.1969 knicks weren't bad either.

The Bulls (1995-1996). Da Dream Team....... Jordan, Rodman, Pippen....... They where the first team to win over 70 games in one season, you have to admit that what they did was out of this world crazy amazing. I can still feel the excitement whenever I think about that season, the finals was heart pounding. No other team can ever compare. The sportsmanship, the mind-blowing plays..... you have to them props. The answer to that question will always and forever be the Bulls.

i don't likely have a fave NBA team, I commonly root for the gang with a former Cardinal enjoying, or the gang with somebody from Louisville who could have been a Cardinal if Sebastian Telfare wasn't recruited over him ( Rondo ). even nonetheless Louisville is vast adequate to help an NBA franchise, we are able to in no way have one through fact NCAA>>NBA in Kentucky. No NBA team desires to take a backseat to the place of origin college team.
