I have tried all the tricks to get on line: turning my laptop off, unplugging the power cord from my modem (I have DSL), I tried the connection wizard, etc., but I still get the message that I have to clean my ARP cache. Can anyone help? I'm in need of taking my laptop with me.

Clearing the ARP Cache
Start, Run, CMD, at the C:\> prompt type "netsh interface ip delete arpcache", Enter.

If it does not work this way repeat it after the following:
Start, control panel, administrative tools, computer management, (double click) service and applications, (double click) services, (scroll down to) Routing and Remote Services (and double click it), (set the) Start Up Type to Disabled, Stop the Service Status, OK

If you are using XP,

1) Go to Start and choose Control Panel. I am more familiar with 'Classic mode' so if you see an option at the top-right of the screen that says Switch to Classic mode, please click that.

2) Click on Network Connections.

3) Find the icon that represents your connection to the internet (perhaps it is called Local Area Connection) and right-click on it.

4) Choose 'repair'.

During the repair process, if everything goes right, the ARP Cache should be cleared (it always flashes on my screen when I am repairing a connection).

Good luck,
Riven

I have LAN connection, and the ARP Cache is cleaned when I right click on it and then hit 'repair'. Try this:
Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on your active network and click 'Repair'. I am 90% sure that it will work.
