That is an infamous problem with the PS2, the problem was when the PS2 first came out it had bugs and one of those was it could not play CD format games (which is the format of PS1), only DVD formatted. Not all PS2's have this problem. You could take to to your local gaming store, or computer service shop, and they could probably fix it.

because ps1 sucks a** dont you relize that you can only put a PS freaking 1 game in a ps2 system but dude you should get an upgrade like a ps3 or nintendo wii or something please

Effectualy it will give a error if you insert a game of PS1 into PS2 just like you insert a MICROSOFT XP CD into MICROSOFT 98.
