they're probably scared they'll get shot. seems like every other day i hear about another club getting shot up.

It is alive and kicking all over the country. Look at Las Vegas, Denver, New York, Miami, LA, San Francisco, Chicago etc. All have bustling club scenes. Things can be more dangerous- but you just have to choose what clubs you go to more carefully (plus fights etc. happen at every bar...booze plus stupid people = fighting quite often. Dress codes are still similar, the one big change I have noticed is really just the music. Techno is becoming larger and larger, and many clubs are turning to guest DJ's to come in and spice things up.
Just what I have seen.
