Hello Everyone!

I had received my first digital camera for Christmas and now I am looking for a SD memory card.

My question is:

Do I need more than one SD card? If I get a 1 or 2GB card, will that do? Should I get a couple SD cards? What brand name should I get? Does it matter? LOL! Sorry ... I am clueless!

I have a Sumsung Digimax A7 camera!

Thanks for your answers!

One card with 2GB will hold probably 10,000 pictures. You don't even need a card that large!! Go with a less expensive 256MB or something. That's what i use and it holds 300+ pictures. I can't delete them quick enough!!

Just get one memory card (1 gb). Unless you are going on a long trip with no access to a computer, a 1gb will hold about 400 pictures (depending on the pixel size). If the camera (not familiar with the one you got) also takes movies, then you will get about 200 pictures and 30 minutes of movies.
Also remember, the more pictures you have on your sd drive, the longer it is going to take to download ALL those pictures.
Name brand does not make a difference, just make sure it has sd on the logo.

the quantity of pics a card will hold depends on the size photos your camera is set to take...i.e 5 mega pixels, 6mp, 8mp.... the larger the pic the fewer will fit on a card. I would go with at least a 1 gig card.... this will likely hold 300 or more pics. The only diffs in the cards is that some have higher read/write speeds... this is only relevant if you are doing rapid shooting... many frames one after the other. Hope this helped. oooh... and you only need more than one if you like to have a back-up.
