JFK's youth and young family were part of the "Kennedy Mystique." How did this image of youth, hope and vigor change the political tide of America? Why was America so ready for this change? How can JFK and his young family be as seen as representatives of the World War II generation?

I gather you are writing a paper for a school project.

In politics image is very important. But the image is only effective when the times surrounding that image resonate. Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower, were older and set in their ways, the reflected images of the decades past, including the war and the depression. Nixon although in the same age range as kennedy still continued to reflect that sensability. Research the checkers speech and the "good republican cloth coat".

Kennedy, on the other hand, was attractive, stylish, witty and charming. He looked like the future of youth and vitality. Jackie had supermodel looks combined with a brilliant mind and a killer sense of style. The were the poster children for the baby boom American dream.

This image combined with a rising tide of rights expansion and revolution both social, political and cultural. Research the civil rights movement, the rise of birth control, and the scientific advances attributed to the space race.

The Image was American idealism at its best.

In many ways the Reagans of the early 80's embodied the mystique of that generation. Pride, wealth, and return to certain cultural values etc.

A compare and contrast piece between Kennedy and Reagan would be an interesting paper.

One interesting addition to a paper would be a little "home research" If you have extensive family photo albums dateing back to the fifties, I am sure you will find family pictures of parents, grandparents, or some other family member where they are dressed exactly like Jack and Jackie. Add it in as a common example of the influence of their style.

I like all this youth, health and vigor stuff about JFK. The truth is that was in worse health than most of our Presidents. The tan skin and thick hair was the result of the steroids he was taking for his Addison's Disease. The pictures and film footage of him playing ball or whatever were carefully staged, so the maximum effect could be had in the shortest of time. And to top it all off, when shot one of the reasons he fell "back and to the left"(as Oliver Stone has his hero say over and over) was because of the restrictive back brace that he wore. He got into the Navy with either bribes or falsified medical records. JFK was popular because the press was telling everybody he was popular. In reality, he was a mediocre President ,at best, who almost got us into a nuclear war over Cuba.

Kennedy.... Failed help of the Bay of Pigs invasion. That inspired the U.S. to construct the Berlin Wall. Kennedy did no longer something approximately that. That inspired the U.S. to place missles in Cuba. Kennedy then introduced the international as close to to a nuke conflict as we ever have been. while the U.S. "decrease back off" they got here out of the deal over Cuba greater useful off than the u . s . a .. (u.s. bumped off missles from Cuba, u . s . a . bumped off similiar missles from Turkey. u . s . a . promised in no thank you to invade Cuba, u.s. did no longer make an equivalent promise approximately Turkey. u . s . a . have been given the worst of the deal.) Then Kennedy stopped a bullet and could now stay in historic past as a "tremendous president."

Boy, you don't want us to just write the paper for you, do you? There is a ton of information available about the Kennedy family, and it is all fascinating. Do yourself a favor, go to the library and read some of it for yourself. You may discover a new interest.
