Take a microwavable glass filled half way with white vinegar. Boil for several minutes and then wipe out with a mixture of baking soda and water. Be sure to remove all traces of baking soda before operating again. This also works well for removing baked on spills.

Like someone else said try the baking soda in a sm. glass dish of some kind with a little water or white vinegar. make take several times...
then you could try a sm. dish of water w/ cinnamon or cloves added to the water and keep running it for less than a minute and make sure it always has water w/the spices
