All my friends are preoccupied with their own lives, understandably, and I am very lonely at the moment. Has anyone had a positive experience from joining a local club/voluntary group? Please give me some ideas. I am 40 and divorced lady and fed up.

,I am in my forties, and moved to a new area. I work with one other person, so there is no social calendar..

I joined a french class recently made a brand new friend and have been out twice with her showing me around the area abit more and it has made me feel at home. One friend is better than none at all!

Develop your interests and hobbies on the internet and see if there any local groups around.

Get out there and be noticed!!

A good way to meet people is to get a job. Even if it's part time, that way you interact with people on a daily basis and inevitably end up going for drinks after work. If you have problems with getting a job, try a charity shop or some kind of voluntary job

Signing off of YA is the first thing.

Then take a class at your local college...you'll met a ton of new people and you'll be learning something new.

It's a win-win situation....good luck.
