It seems to me that creations serve the purpose of doing things that the creator cannot. People wouldn't need knives if they could cut things just as well with their fingernails. People wouldn't need soap if we could clean ourselves like cats. That's why we create those things. So what would an omnipotent God create us and the universe to do? Was he bored and created us for entertainment? Was he lonely and in need of company? Was he power hungry and needed something to control? Was he insecure and needed to prove his creative prowess to himself? He had to have a reason, right?

It created us perfect. we are perfectly flawed. without our mistakes is there any learning? Without learning is there any reasoning?
Think of how sadness has you feeling weakened. Or how happiness can have you feeling rejuvenated.
Our emotions, our "spirit", and our physical being are all tied together.
Whether or not this is due to creation or evolution ceases to be of significance when you consider that all we have are theories.
Religion as well as evolution have yet to be proven. It is all based on belief. A belief that there IS a reason. Do we really need one? Perhaps we should indulge in the notion that we are what we are and we are here. We belong to the earth. The earth does not belong to us.
We most likely will never know the truth to our origins. They have long been forgotten or misinterpreted.

I am going to answer this question from a Christian perspective. Humans were not created to do what God could not do, God is self- existent. Humans were created for companionship, we the first humas were created God would come and sit and talk with them, we were created for companionship and to worship God. Humans are created with a free will go God did not create us so he could have something to control. If he created us to control us then we wouldn't have sin in the first place as he would have prevented Adam and Eve from disobeying him and thereby introducing sin into the world.

Excuse me! Have you even read the Bible or did you hear about the story somewhere, didn't check it out and asked Yahoo! Answers to put that question up there for you? Well, in the begining, God created the heavens and the earth. He is not omnipotent. God created mankind because he was lonel and wanted someone to talk to him. God is everywhere, he is always with us to this day, and he always will be.

I am a Christian and I ask myself the same Question, why is there a world or universe or even a God. How did this all start. Jesus Christ is my savior and that is all I know. He teached me much. People ask me so have I ever really communicated with him well, I say yes I have. He communicates to me through the Bible then I pray to him and he hears me, we talk all the time. People can go ahead and call me crazy say i'm insane, I don't care. I know the truth and no matter how much I have to go through in this world in the end I will live forever, never feeling pain. Never having to deal with the hardships of this world. Many now a days forget how The United Stated of America began. Our four fathers prayed and built this country in the name of God. So by going up against God you are destroying this wonderful Country that he built for us. Look it up. I learned about it in 5th grade.

I believe that we are all Gods in training. God once was what we are now. He felt sickness and health, pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness. Through overcoming weaknesses and trials, we are all made stronger and progress to a higher plane. This life is not the end. We are in the midst of our own eternal progression. God, as we know Him, has progressed to a level where He Himself has the knowledge and powers to create life, worlds, universes. He has given us, His children, a taste of this power--the power of procreation. As we use this power, and the gifts (or talents) that he has endowed upon each of us according to His will (or commandments if you will)--and not our own, we continue in that progression. When we leave this world, we return to our maker where we may continue our progression through the eternities and eventually become as He is now.

You have very valid point here. I think if humans were created by him they would be like him- perfect in all respects. Humans are not created by god. Could it be that GOD was misspelt for DOG?
