Awesome question and I'd say yes, one persons terrorist is another persons freedom fighter. And I say that because I'm a soldier that's done two tours in Iraq and I can understand both sides of the issue, ours and theirs.

The Islamic Terrorists are not fighting for freedom. They are actually fighting against freedom.

And freedom fighter's weren't called terrorists they were called revolutionaries. Because they were Revolting against their oppressors.

I feel the reason the word terrorist even became linked to freedom fighters or revolutionaries is do to the Irish Republican Army. These revolutionaries were considered terrorists because sadly some of them were.

The other sticky thing is the Taliban, (Sadly we helped put this party in power after the Russian/Afghanistan war) some of them are revolutionaries only fighting to regain a foot hold in Afghanistan again. While others are still terrorists attacking other countries.

But the insurgency in Iraq are people fighting against the idea of Iraq being a free Arabian Nation with a Democratic style of government that listened to all the Iraqi peoples needs.

(The idea of a Democratic Government started along time ago during the Roman Empire. They were the first government to have a Senate.)

In some cases, I would agree with you, but in the present case of the insurgency in Iraq, exactly what are the terrorists fighting for? To get the US out.. Ok, then what? Will they lay their arms aside, and live peacably? Very doubtful. What that is all about is control, and which branch of Islam (Shi'ite or Sunni) becomes the rule of law. There will be no peace, or freedom, for any of those people because of the religious aspect of their conflict. You must examine the historical dialectic here, and conclude that freedom is not what is desired; what is desired is power, and control.

No, it's not, and no, it's not too honest. It's not honest at ALL.
Shall we then say that the Nazis were heroes, and the Allies were the terrorists?
Because it's about the same as saying the terrorists are freedom fighters!

You can call a fruit a vegetable all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still a FRUIT!

No, it is merely inaccurate.

The difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is that freedom fighters target military targets and terrorists target civilians.

Yes very true. They are terrorists if you're an American or British. They're freedom fighters if you're an Arab...

Freedom Fighter? You have to be off your med's or smoking something really strong. And as for David B and your 2 tours in Iraq??? You're an insult to our troops if you believe a freedom fighter (terrorist) is the the same as our soilders.

Just what freedom were the terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center searching for? Those innocent people in the towers did not have the ability or wherewithall to give any type of freedom to those murderous hijackers. So, to answer your question, no, freedom fighters and terrorists are not the same.

Yes, its true in many cases. Not necessarily only Muslim extremists. Don't believe me? Have a look at the IRA and Hizbollah.

Of course,or there wouldn't be wars.I think in Iraq, however,it's more a fight for control between the different factions, but each of them are fighting for what they believe in or have been brainwashed to believe in.It's all just plain stupid and tragic.
