i am 3 cms dilated with my first baby, just had a membrane sweep and lost some mucusy blood. she said my cervix is 50 % effaced and posterior postion and 'soft' any ladies out there had similiar news and how long after did you go ito labour? my due date is today. thanks

Well obviously your due date is today so your about to pop soon. Who knows exactly when, babies are unpredictable. But within 2 weeks you should have your baby and if not, they are likely to induce to make the baby come out.
I just had my 36 week appt this morning and I am 1.5 cms dilated and 50% effaced. I could walk around like this for weeks or pop soon, i hope.

3cm is not a lot. I was dialated at 2cm for about a month. Posterior cervix means that the cervix is opening out and if it's soft, this means that it's loosening up to open the birth canal. You're only halfway effaced. This means you got 50% to go, so you've got a while. This sounds like the general beginings of labor. Average labor for a first time mom is seven to ten hours. I was in labor for six hours the first time and five hours the second time around.
From the sounds of it, I would think that you have another day or two before you go into real labor. You are probably in pre-labor now. Good luck, momma!

Mind, I was walking around at 2cm dilated with a bulging water sack for about 3 weeks and was induced at 9 days overdue...lol Can't remember all the effacement/softness stats at that time, though. I kept hoping my water would just go, but that sack must've been made of iron!! lol

I'm 38 weeks, almost 3cm and 80% effaced. The Dr told me I could go anytime now. My due date is Jan 10th. You could go anytime now, especially with the membrane sweep and losing the mucus plug. Your baby will come when he/she is ready to make their appearance. Good Luck to you!!!

this is good but doesnt mean anything i had my son on july 16th for 4 weeks i was 85% effaced and 3cm dialted and i went 4 weeks and no baby and over 40 hours of false labour

i'm about the same currently except I'm 90% effaced is it your 1st, it's mine and they said tehy want me a little more dilated before baby time my due date is the 31st, but the ladies at the hospital told me it would not be to much longer, hope it happens soon

Once I hit 3 cm, it started coming fast. It took me about 5 hours to dialate to 10. So if you've exercised a lot during the pregnancy, you should be swaddling soon enough!! how exciting! dont forget, breathe through your nose and out through your mouth!!

It's good, this means the baby is coming and it shouldn't be much longer. My suggestion is leave the computer alone and get comfortable because you will be pushing soon.
