Disadvantage: you have to buy a garder belt which can cause some discomfort in some people.

Stockings are much cooler in summer, especially if formal dress is required.
Plus, they look way more pretty on women legs and give a fantastic good feeling to the wearer. No vote at all for going bare legged.
The need of a suitable fairly deep garter belt isn't a real problem after becoming familiar with more frequent use.
Occasionally, you can refrain from wearing panties underneat shirt if outside temperature does allow.
As disadvantage, tell tale singns of bumps might show through tight clothes.

Advantages? Where do I start. Have you ever tried to wear pantyhose for 10 hours, or get in a hot car with them on, or go to the bath room or try to have sex in them? They are horrible.
Stockings not only are thinner and more transparent, but they look and feel a whole lot sexier. They are not hot or uncomfortable and you don't have to remove them to pee or have sex. Plus, they enhance all your best lingerie, weather it be just great bikinis or thongs, or a complete ensemble of bra, panties and garter. Then there is th world of bustiers and corsets that can be worn with jeans or under suits with the stockings attaches for a very alluring effect. I don't know a man that doesn't prefer me in stockings to pantyhose or bare legs.

Stockings can give easy access...if you know what I mean ;) They make it easier to go to the bathroom because you don't have to pull them down, and if you get a run in one leg, easy enough to match it with another stocking instead of tossing out and entire pair.
But for me, I'd rather stick with pantyhose all the way.

tights are more sturdy than stockings/pantyhose. i have long fingernails and pretty much can only use pantyhose once. tights are great with skirts and keep you warmer than bare legs in the winter.
otherwise I avoid wearing them at all costs, they are too annoying because I always feel like they are sliding down and bunch at your ankles.
