Check with your doctor about this if you really want to use it. Some women have trouble with swelling in the feet and ankles and a footspa can make it worse.

I've been pregnant twice and this question is a new one on me. I've never heard that before. I've heard that pregnant women shouldn't use spas in genenral but never heard a warning against footspas. I agree with the previous answers that it's probably something to do with the fear of inducin premature labour. However I have also noticed that these 'warnings for pregnant women' are popping up all over the place these days. My motto is always if in doubt, don't do it. Is it absolutely crucial to use it. If not just don't do it. There are definately something I was advised against when pregnant that I still did anyway but I made an informed decision based on what I felt was best. I'm sure these companies stick these warnings on everything to cover themselves.

I am obviously not a doctor, all i am is a science student, but in answer to your question, i think the reason that preganant women are advised not to use foot spas is as the idea of the foot spa is to relieve preesure builing up in the feet via the metatarsals, as you have more pressure on your feet. BUt once that your feet have been relaxed for a while, and start to feel better, the woman will go to walk on them again and it can cause more pain and aching to occur within the foot region, which can lead to intense swelling of the feet, which in turn could cause the woman distress, which would then cause the unborn child to feel that its mother is distressed.
Hope that helps.

Because there are certain pressure points in your feet and ankles that can cause premature labor. As with any type of massage, you should be careful not to hit these points. Though I've had regular pedicures with foot and leg massages since being PG and I've yet to go into premature labor. And it does relieve my swelling in my feet, ankles and calves. In fact, pedicures never felt so damn good as they have since I've gotten further into my pregnancy.

I don't see why you couldn't use it, but I have heard that there is a certain pressure point on your feet that can cause you to have premature labor. Maybe that's why.

I think that if you're just soaking your feet and not massaging them you're fine. Probably the manufacturer just put that on there to save them from liability of someone goes into labor while using their product.

Its because when you're pregnant your feet and ankles swell. If you use a foot spa then your at risk from deep vein thrombosis or DVP which is a blood clot in the legs which could spread to your heart or brain and it could kill you.

I know from my massage therapy classes that certain points of your foot can cause labor to start, but never have even thought of my foot spa causing this, I guess i better out it away
