Check your vents to see if they need cleaning and make sure you have a fresh filter on your heater. I've always wondered why some houses are very dusty and others aren't.

In the winter dust is always worse. In the summer you can open the windows, the air isn't as dry...in the winter you keep everything closed up, the heater is running, the air is dryer...which in turn makes your skin more dry...and dead dry skin is alot of what dust is made up of. I would say don't worry so much about it. Your house I'm sure is cleaner than many other people's because most people don't care enough to clean twice a day. A little dust and dirt never hurt anybody!

My house has all wood and tile floors and it seems like every time I sweep, I see more dust than I did before I started. What I do now is sweep, then go over the floors with the Swiffer to pick up what was left. If you happen to have wood floors, Pledge makes a floor cleaner that acts somewhat like the furniture polish. That actually helps a lot for the floors and for the wood furniture, I use a swiffer duster sprayed lightly w/Pledge furniture polish. Though the conditions of my house have not changed much, the Pledge seems to help repel the dust so I am not dusting as often. Gives me more time to play with my kids and my puppy!!

Sweeping generally just moves the dust around. You need to make sure you are using a dust mop like Swiffer. Plus you can get an air purifier that removes dust particles from the aire. You will find that your family is allot healthier too.

You live on a dirt road? If you do, try putting calcium down on the road in front of your home. You can get it at Lowe's or Home Depot. It kinda congeals and coats the road so that he dust will not become airborn. It will keep the dust to a minimum.

Also, if you or anyone in your household smokes then have them do it outside away from your home to avoid 'ash dust'.

Another thing you can try in an air cleaner or purifier. It will suck up the dust in the air before it can coat all of your belongings. Just remeber to change the filter!

Don't smoke in the house. Turn on vents when you cook. Maybe invest in an air purifier? Do you have old carpets or unfinished wood floors? They seem to trap a lot of dust.

Maybe your house is to dry. Try running a humidifier, that will keep moisture in the air and less dust will be moving around.

change a/c filters at least monthly. use good ones.

rip up carpets, replace upholstered furniture for non, and clean curtains/drapes. All these can harbor skin cells, dust, dirt, and general yuckiness

keep windows closed

Put efficient mats at each entryway, and wash them regularly.

It sound like your HVAC system needs to be cleaned. Have your service tech clean the unit and check if your duct are all sealed, they will pick up attic dust and end it to your rooms. Change your filters monthly.

Maybe you need to change the filter on your furnace. Or you could need to get your heating/cooling ducts cleaned. That can be expensive, so try getting a new filter first.

It's an ongoing battle -- I know! Good luck!
