My wife wants to get 40th anniverary Mustang GT. I want to get a black Firehawk Trans Am with a 6 speed. I know girls like Mustangs and it would be alot less intimidating to drive. But I can't see myself in a car that you see everywhere and isn't all that quick. And if it were an auto it would be a joke. I used to have a Z28 and while I do like some Mustangs such the 03-04 cobra, my neighbor and I used to laugh at the GTs when they tried to run it. She has never even been in a T/A. I would be will to settle for an auto if it made it easier for her to drive. Any ideas on reaching an compromise between the two?

Well bumbles that sounds fine and dandy. but you read my question it was a 40th anniversary GT not the new overpriced cobra. If I had that kind of money I would just get a z06 or a GTO. And as for the 350z. They are nice cars. But aren't alot of them getting recalled for front end issues causing toe in? And having beat the hell out of my Z28 the LS1 was more than a sold powerplant for a sports car.

If you need a sports car for the family....look at the Dodge Magnum SRT8. These cars is limited in numbers and you see very few on the road.

They are a great family vehicles and I have blown the doors off a few new Mustang GT's. You will have lots of room for easily 4 adults or your kids and carry your dogs in the back. This car is a great comprimise as I get a lot of looks and compliements with this bad A** wagon!

If you don't like the looks of the wagon you should look at the Charger SRT8 or even the Chrysler 300 SRT8.

Just out of curiosity...were does the "I know girls like Mustangs" come from??? I don't! I've never been a Ford fan period! Most definitely go with the TA!! The first new car I ever bought was a Firebird (Dad was pissed because he didn't think his 18 year old daughter should be driving one of those - he's a cop). Question(s) though...is it just you and your wife or are there kids? Do you have a family car as well? Who will primarily be driving the vehicle?

So your saying the mustang isnt that quick???? Ever drive one, 2 of my freinds have them, one the Cobra and the other a new 07 500 HP model.... they gave me rides in them. Before you say they "arent quick" you should take one for a ride. I dont know about the trans am.... but im willing to bet the Mustang will embarras the trans am, especially the 500 HP one. It's your choice..... I personally like the style of the camaro/firebird..... lower sleek looking.... im not into cars so you have to make a decision... it seems you like the Trans-am more.....

Yuck. Both of these vehicles are overrated, heavy as hell junksters. If you drive them hard, they'll be leaking oil in two years. They're for teenage kids and "adults" who still listen to REO Speedwagon.

If you want a real sports car, think about 350Z. Not only are they cool, they're reliable.

being dedicated gm buyer, you know my answer. the 350z dude might be right if you've got $30k+ to put plunk down, not to mention insurance will be considerably higher. maybe he listens to moby or that music off of "need for speed" video games.
