It seems that when a "well off person"uses their persuasion skills to get what they want they are called "smart" and "repected".(example: asks for money and receives 20,000 dollars towards the charity they want to support)
It also seems that when a "poor" person uses their same persuasion skills they are considered to be "using someone" or "trying to get something for nothing".(example: asks for a ride somewhere or for a little help with an important bill that needs to be paid)
Why is this do you think?

Your example isn't the best, but I know what you mean. Really people in general just don't like the poor or disadvantaged. They (not me) often see them as "povs" or losers. And since in their mind nothing good can come from a loser, they disregard their requests. Fair??? Not at all, but that's the reality of it..sorry

Your examples are flawed. The well off person is asking for money and gets others to donate to a charity. Presumably, the charity is involving a cause that may or may not benefit the rich person, but the gift also leads to benefit to others (a museum open to all, homeless shelters, animal protection, etc.). The poor person is using persuasion to get a ride somewhere for themself, or to get THEIR personal bills paid. The neighbor doesn't have the opportunity to enjoy benefit from that skill or achievement.

If a poor person was out raising money for a cause, they would be called smart and be respected...and if the rich person were bumming rides or to have their personal bills paid, they would not be respected.

Double standards, happens with a society, and within any society that is searching and looking to achieved changes, questions to our own self are best answer by our own thinking, you may see this as totally non productive way of being. But you question can be best answer by your own self, you just need and perhaps your searching for someone whom which you understand more of your own desires to expand into new and different areas of your own though, for peoples to help each other to achieved peace within. Double Standards aren't necessary bad things, (to my Knowledge), if you can control and keep in Check our own double, multiple or triple personalities????, Now a day's. Good question??
