Diamonds are usually thought of in terms of carat weight due to their popularity in rings. Who wants a diamond smaller than 1 carat? Plenty of people have them and don't know. One carat=100 points, and so the smallest diamonds I've ever seen were 2 point diamond tips on a diamond saw blade (used for concrete cutting), but I'm sure there are 1 point diamonds as well. They cannot actually facet diamonds smaller than 1 point. The Cullinan Diamond, part of the British crown jewels, was the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found (1905), at 3,106.75 carats. One of the diamonds cut from it, Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa, was formerly the largest gem-quality cut diamond at 530.2 carats, but now that title has been taken by the Golden Jubilee (1985), a 545.67 carat, yellow-brown diamond. The largest flawless and colorless (grade D) diamond is the Centenary Diamond which weighs 273.85 carats. The Millennium Star is the second largest (1990) at 203.04 carats.

Go to this website to read up on anything you want to know about a diamond.
There is a section in this article called Carat. It tells a carat's worth and other things.
This article also covers things such as grading scales for color and quality, cuts, etc.
I think this will be helpful to you.

i dun think carrot diamonds exist, coz i can't think of a trace impurity that could color a diamond orange, much less imagine a diamond that big ever forming.
