I went to a wedding reception a few weeks ago and wore a nice dress just above the knee, heels and pantyhose. My mother almost flipped because I had worn just pantyhose (no panties or slip) under the dress to avoid lines. It really hurt my feelings. She told me the dress was too short to wear just pantyhose under it. They were all sheer; but made to wear without. She had accidently walked in on me as I was undressing after the reception. I just turned 20; and I would like to know what you think.

She is just being the typical mom who is having a bit of a hard time letting go. In her view it probably didn't seem lady like. She never did that back in her day. For you i have to say that there is nothing wrong with what you wore. Nobody knew. You are right.

I don't think it's a big deal. I assume your mother was worying about your modesty and nto wearing underwear. A significant portion of women (probably a minority, but still) who wear pantyhose go without panties for the same reason you did. You are old enough to make your own decisions, and it doesn't sound like you were being immodest at all. I think your mother was overreacting a bit. Perhaps you could gently explain that you were trying to avoid attention rather than attract it. The subject is not one to merit a full-fledged argument. If she doesn't agree, I've just mvoe onto a different topic and keep dressing the way you want to.

Doesn't sound like anything is wrong with that, afterall you are 20!! Besides, no girls I know ever wears a slip or panties if they are wearing pantyhose. It seems like the PH alone are good enough anymore. There's nothing wrong with sheer hose, heels, and a nice dress; I'm sure you looked hot! Where are more girls like you!! I'll bet you have aawesome legs to show off!

you're 20 years old, it should be your decision what you wear.
nobody was going to be peeking up your dress at a wedding reception, and its not as if you were showing off your bum for the world to see.
your mother is being a natural mother: overprotective.
dont let it bother you too much.

It is really hard to determine who was right without seeing what you wore and seeing how it looked on you. I will tell you though mother's normally have their daughter's best interest in mind. Mom's don't exsist just to give you a hard time.

Make up with your mom. She loves you and you love her. Being right isn't important.

surely I even have been with the aid of precisely this comparable subject. i in my opinion think of that as mum and dad they get frightened because of the fact they are afraid of their daughter getting used or heartbroken. i in my opinion think of all of this nonsense approximately mum and dad stepping in and providing you with the frustration communicate is relating to the undeniable fact that they've been interior the direction of the pre-marital intercourse subject and that they think of it reasons heart soreness because of the fact nicely if its no longer with the suitable person you're able to desire to shed some tears. relatively however, I tell all of my acquaintances this Do what you like and you experience suitable with in spite of what they say yet be arranged to manage any and all consequenses which from time to time propose (heartbreak, a sprint one, an STD, etc.) in case you experience you're waiting and mature sufficient to take on the hazards of existence than you're waiting and not something ought to hold you back!

I think if you are 20 years old, then you are old enough to worry about your own actions. My mom stopped worrying about my actions by the time I was 17. I've always been a responsible girl, so she really had nothing to worry about. I agree with you.

I think at 20 you should be able to wear what you like...... as long as you think you looked gorgeous what does it matter? Maybe your mum has just realised that her little girl is growing up and she doesnt want you too......

Sit down and talk with your mom about how she feels......

Happy New Year!

seriously - your mum needs to pull her head in - explain it wasnt that you wanted to get attention - the exact opposite actually and ask if she doesnt want her daughter to look her best at a family event - am sure she will agree. Best to deal with these things without the shouting match I find.

As long as you couldnt see anything through it I see nothing wrong with it. If she didn't notice before she saw you undress it shouldnt have made a difference.
