Entering your credit card ensures that you are who you say you are, and that you only create one account. It also ensures that you are of legal age to purchase or listen to some songs or content they provide. You don't get charged, like the girl above me said. She must've done something wrong. I signed up 2 years ago, and I've never been wrongfully charged for anything I didn't purchase.

They want you to use your credit card so when you do purchase a song they can automatically charge that amount to your card. It's pretty much a way of them being sure they get the money for the song or songs that you buy.

So that when you do start to buy music they have your credit card on file. iTunes is not pay per month, but pay per download. Most people start downloading the moment they get iTunes. They won't charge you until you buy something.

YOU CAN JUST GO TO WALMART OR SOME PLACE LIKE THAT AND GET AN ITUNES GIFT CARD AND YOU TYPE THE NUMBER ON IT AND ITUNES CREDITS YOU FOR THAT PRICE TO BUY MUSIC, THAT IS THE EASIEST WAY THAT I DO IT AND THER IS NO CREDIT CARD NEEDED.

So that after the "FREE TRIAL" period and you forget to cancel it (which most people do) they can start to charge your credit card!
