It certainly sounds like you have depression. Two pregnancies, a birth, and a late-term miscarriage within a year put a big hormonal load on your body. It's also (in the northern hemisphere) a bad time of year for many people, with the cold, the lowered sunlight, and the stress of the holidays. And then, of course, you have the sadness of losing a pregnancy so late, as well as caring for a baby.
Whether it's PPD or SAD or whatever, I'm not going to speculate. But seeing a doctor is definitely a good thing in your case... it'll help you enjoy your baby and your life more. Going on antidepressants is not necessarily a lifelong thing, and when you get better, you can be weaned off them. Best of luck!

Absolutely, please go and see a Dr. You are definitely suffering from depression. Whether it is postpartum or not, it doesn't matter. The cure is all the same. Antidepressants are wonderful medications when prescribed and taken correctly. And, they do not have to be taken over a lifetime. Usually a Dr. may wean a patient after they have been stable for a minimum of 6 months. It may take you up to a year to get stable however. There are several postpartum depression organizations that can help you. One, located in Santa Barabra Ca. is call PSI (Postpartum Support International). You can get linked up with other Mom's going through the same thing. I had terrible P.D. after my 2nd child. It was so bad, I spent a week in the Psych Ward. After I started taking the medications, excercising, eating, and sleeping healthy again, I went on to have 2 more children (4 in all). My youngest is 6 now. I'm very normal, healthy and happily married. Praise God for the antidepressants that helped me! Don't wait, the longer you go without help the harder it will be to fix. Preferrably you really should go to a psychiatrist instead of a general practitioner or Internist. Your O.B. can refer you to a good woman psychiatrist. Would you want a dermatologist performing your heart surgery?
Keep the Faith, Have trust in your husband, he love you, and by all means, do it for your baby. THe baby needs a healthy happy Mom!

You might. Having a baby and then getting pregnant almost right away will really through your hormones off. And then having to go through a miscarriage must be devastating. Postpartum depression is very common and it is something you want to take seriously....otherwise it can lead to postpartum psychosis. See your doctor and know there is help if you need it.

Sounds like depression to me. Get checked out, it won't hurt anything to see a MD, it will probably make things better. I have a good friend who lost a child (full term). She had to take meds. to help get over the loss. She is fine now and dealing with the loss in a healthy way. Listen to you husband sounds like he loves you and wants you to be better.

You may want to go see your Dr. just to be sure. Explain to your Dr. your symptoms and I'm sure he'll give you an honest opinion. You probably will get over it, but just be safe and go see your Dr. anyway.
You are special! (big smile)
