a good amp and decent monitors are essential if you want to make any decent mixes.
Try Yamaha speakers and a samson amp, decent price, decent quality

Unless you want to mix purely using headphones, you really would need an amp and ideally some flat frequency response monitor speakers.

You would be able to hear using headphones straight out of the mixer, but wearing headphones for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable and damages hearing.

For cheap and cheerful you could try Behringer who make both amplifiers and monitor speakers. There are loads of Amp manufacturers, and it's really what's best for you, considering factors like price, wattage, size, portability, etc.
