I have been singing since I was 5 years old, I always had a talent for singing and then when I was 14 I took up singing lessons because I no longer wanted to participate in the school choir. I believe that anyone can be taught how to sing. Some people are just better singers than others, but everyone has the potential to be a singer!

Ok, well we all know J. Lo started off as just an actress. Then she wanted to be like all the others who wanted to sing and act. So to expand her horizons, she gave it a shot. She needed major singing lessons. It was said that the girl could not carry a tune. And look at her now. She did come off very weak in the beginning, but she made it. There is a big change in her vocals from when she first started. If the will is there, anybody can sing. Yes, it does help if you can at least carry a tune.

I'm a music teacher and do teach people who can't carry a note to learn to sing. For one, it's not about talent, talent comes into play much later. The first thing is to develop a sense of pitch, and that comes from repeated practice and adjusting. Very few of my freshmen have a good since of pitch, but by the time they become seniors, most do... but the older you get without developing this sense, the more work it will take to develop it.

As you get better with your sense of pitch (you never stop developing it)- singing well becomes much easier. You're singing lessons become less of singing the right now, and becomes more about singing the right note better- and believe me, this part of your lessons can take a life time.

Learning to sing is a tradion taught for over a 1000 years for us, and there are many, many techinques good teachers can use to teach you. There are a few people who can just naturally do it, but these people also normally grew up surrounded by music as little children (this helps a lot)- so I encourage you to try and take lessons. Don't be discouraged. It takes some of my students up to a year to develop that sense of pitch, but once they do, they never forget it.

It takes practice to truely be equipped to hit the notes however it truthfully works. It can be a technique utilized by various steel "screamers" to undertaking their voice more, but it surely works for any form of singing.

Anybody can sing.

But can you make your vocal cords imitate the sound of the notes? A B C D E F G

Like: do re mi fa so la ti do; sounds much better when they come out of a well tuned vocalist.

It helps if you can and Opera Singers do it real well.

Training your vocal cords takes time and keeping them tuned is required.

I think that you have to have the ability to be able to sing. If the ability is there then you have something to work with, otherwise, you are wasting your time.
