My bf's ex-girlfriend she said just found out she was 7 1/2 mo. preg. beginning of dec. Only 5 days later she gave birth to a girl prematurely.

She claims she didn't know she was pregnant. The last time my boyfriend said he slept with her (before me) was early April and we got together at the end of April.

The girl hasn't really give my bf direct answers to his questions, she told him she was due mid- to late feb. 07.

She said she had her period and no signs/symptoms until she had the baby. What are the chances that this child is actually his?

He plans on getting a paternity test. He hasn't signed any paperwork at the hospital, how are court paternity tests taken? Would he have to pay child support until the results come back and how long do they normally take in court?

Wow, Im having a hard time believing she didnt know she was pregnant. Im 5 months pregant and feel movement, have a hard stomach, have to wear big maternity pants..... I also cant believe she had her period through her whole pregnancy. Ive never heard of that happening before.. Anyway, I dont think he has to pay anything since there is no evidence the baby is actually HIS. Not until the paternity testing is done.

Didn't know she was pregnant, or didn't have it confirmed by a doctor? I know there are people who, for whatever reason, do not know they are pregnant for a long time, but this would be quite a long time indeed. She sounds like a pretty mixed-up woman.

Yes, he should have a paternity test done immediately. He should also hire a lawyer to protect his rights, as this thing has more difficulties than you may have considered. Suppose he is the father, which is at least possible, if the child was not actually premature? Then he has rights as well as responsibilities as a father. Given that the mother sounds pretty flaky, to say the least, he may want to fight for custody of the child. Are you prepared to be the step-mother for the child?

Paternity suits are not just about the mother gouging money out of the father. They also involve a father's need to be a part of his child's life, and the child's need to know his or her father. Those are really more important than the financial considerations, but the finances may dominate the thinking of someone who has very little. So what is the financial condition of both people? And yours, as the potential step-mother? Can you and he afford to help the mother to get her act together while you adopt the child? Or care for him or her in paternal custody, with the understanding that a mother who gets herself straighted out will probably want to share custody?

Like I say, you two gotta hire a lawyer right away.

If she was due in mid-late February 2007, her last menstrual period was late May-early June 2006...about 2 months after she and your boyfriend broke up.

Either she's lying, she's wrong about the due date, or your bf is lying about the last time he slept with her (I hope not!). He needs a paternity test.

If he is the father, yes, he'll be on the hook for child support for at least the next 18 years, as well as contributing to the child's health insurance and possibly her college education. Once paternity is established, it usually doesn't take long for these cases to go through the courts, but it depends on the state...and your boyfriend should be aware he may be responsible for child support retroactive from the day his daughter was born, even if the case isn't settled for a year.

I answered this question last time.....

She most likely had her period around may 12.
She most likely concieved from Tuesday, May 23, 2006 to Sunday, May 28, 2006.
Her due date would have been February 16 if the baby were carried to term.

Based on the dates he said he slept with her (given he was telling the truth) The baby would not be his.
Sometimes paternity test through the court can take forever and I suggest going and getting one from your own pocket, if the baby is not his then she will have to pay the money if it turns out to be his then he would have to pay. I went through the courts for a paternity test for my daughter and she was 6 months old before I even got the test.....and took a month for the results.
No he doesnt have to pay until the child is proven his.......Good luck!

Paternity tests are blood tests, pretty simple really. I would avoid court if possible it will just increase all the costs (some one has to pay the judge and the support staff.) Encourage the bf to do the honest thing, if it is his then he should definitely give child support to the best of his ability.

The dates sound like that baby could be his. It is very close to nine months even if the baby is not premature by much. A few women have few pregnancy symptoms or have periods for a couple months into a pregnancy. So a paternity test is you best bet.

A voluntary paternity test will not take as long as going to court to be ordered to get one.

Paternity tests do not take very long at all. A week at most. And until he is proven the father, or not, NO he will not have to pay child support. The only reason other guys pay is because he is certain the child is his. In this case scenario, he does not believe it. So, thus any time a man doubts parenthood, he vouches for a paternity test and does not pay child support until the test result come in, and of course if the child is his.

He doesn't have to pay child support because he didn't sign the papers first off. second the paternity test will tell him everything he needs to know. They don't take long and you can do it out side of court. If his or her ins will cover it is another question. But if you want to know sooner than later I wouldn't waste time with the courts I would just have the doctor order one and get it done! Good Luck!!!!

It's very unusual for a woman to not know she's pregnant - sounds like she was more in denial than anything....
No, the boyfriend doesn't have to pay a dime until he is proven the father and she would have to have a court order for the paternity test to happen (unless the boyfriend initiates this first). The court will dictate who will pay for the test but generally whomever initiates the order pays for it. They usually take a buccal (mouth) swab from him and the baby and match the genetics of the cells that are captured.

He does not have to pay child support unless the baby is determined to be his.

He does not have to pay anything until paternity is determined, unless he had agreed that he was the father.

He will have to pay for the paternity test if it is proven that he is the father.

As for not knowing that she was pregnant, that is probably a lie she is telling because she didn't want people (her parents) to know she was pregnant.

As for having your period while pregnant, I have heard other people say this, but I really don't think it is possible.

Well I was due Feb 2 last year and they said that I conceived around may 13. If she is due around the mid or end of Feb then she would have conceived towards the end of may so no the baby is not his unless he is lying. I would get a test done to make sure and if it is his then he cheated on you.
