There is a website that claims to be the end of the internet. For nerdy types like me this is good humor. It does show a portion of the Internet's Fibre Optic map with junctions. I don't know if this is a real map, but surely there is one somewhere. Anybody have a clue?

http://www.rattlehead.com/the_end/ is the website.

Haha, yeah, I hit the "end of the Internet" a while back, very cute!

It's been a while since I've gone looking myself, but I suggest hitting google with "ISP Backbone" or "Internet topology" or "Internet Backbone" and similar searches.

Afterthought: I heard there have also been some studies done about how the Internet backbone mimics a live, self-healing organism. For example, during the Iraq war, if you look at the Internet connectivity and backbone links before any bombing activity, versus months/years later, there's a whole new network of links that came back with even higher bandwidth and more redundancy. Almost as if a blood vessel gets pinched off but in time new ones grow and branch out in its place.
