Remember, when you breathe in, let your stomach EXPAND and your diaphragm take in the air. You can put your hand on your diaphragm to feel it tightening while you sing. You can hold a note longer this way.
I'm not sure if this is the kind of answer you were looking for.
Anyways,
Hope this helps. =)

It's really hard to tell you without actually seeing you sing. Are you getting a sore throat or losing your voice from singing? If the answer's no then you're probably not doing any damage but i can't tell you if your using correct technique. Unfortunately, the art of singing is very in depth and would take more than a few paragraphs to sum it up.Until you're old enough to pay for your own lessons I would borrow some books from the library on singing technique and maybe join a choir!

If you want to become a better singer, improve your singing voice and are considering an online course I strongly recommend this site:

http://howtosing.toptips.org

I am big fan of this online singing course. You can watch a video more times until you can grasp each concept. Even if the program runs on a 10-day period, you can spend more or less, depending on your own pace. All the guides and tools included in this program are designed by professionals. This means you will learn transitions, changes and voice modification techniques like a pro! It comes with a plethora of exercises, allowing you to improve any aspect of your voice.

It definitely the best alternative to expensive lessons with vocal coaches. Try it and you'll see great results!

sit up straight and breathe from your stomach to be sure you are using the diaphragm. you should be able to feel your stomach going in and out.

and make sure you warm up before you actually start singing, like sing some scales or something, at least 2 octaves so that you get a full range. then you won't strain your throat muscles.

Perhaps you should get a textbook on proper singing techniques and use it to study how to sing properly on your own. Also, do you have a friend who's also a vocalist? Maybe you and them could practice together, and use that book to help you both improve your singing technique.

hold you trunk up and suck your rectum in, dont sing from your throat, use your muscle just below the ribs. (put your hand under the ribs to make sure you feel them tighten up.)
