ive paid £80 for face cream and also £5 to find out the £5 one better.
Another example...nescafe gold blend is not as nice as asdas own gold coffee.
Is it always important to buy the best brands when some cheaper ones are often better quality?

its not always better but if your buying for example hair straightners GHD are worth paying for as the cheaper ones are crap.

i guess tho some people just want to pay for the name whether the product is a good quality or not.

The own brand products are cheaper because the cost of advertising them is almost nothing. Where as Nescafe and other well known brands in all product ranges include a hefty chunk of cash for the advertising. Think on this. The cost of TV advertising is costed out at anything up to a staggering £100,000 per minute. It needs paying for by someone so why not the consumer. I worked for a company whose product was not advertised on TV but only in the trade journals. The manufacturing cost of that product was £1.50. The selling price to the trade (plumbing and Heating) was £32. The difference was for sales, advertising and distribution costs.
Always give the cheaper alternatives a try first. Happy New Year and hope the face cream works.

When talking of Face Creams ; generally, most of the face creams, contain similar ingredients...
A quality product, that is dearer, than the less quality product = You get, what you pay for....
I would always choose a Quality brand of Coffee, Tea, Corn flakes (got to be Kelloggs) etc etc
Some time back, a UK weekday morning tv programme called 'This Morning' tried various Face creams, of different prices... ranging, from stores own brands, to the more expensive designer named face creams... It resulted, that All the face creams, were satisfactory, but the more expensive face cream, was more luxurious to the touch and a nice scent...
Personally, i would pay a middle range price.... I don't want to pay for the Designer name... but quality of a product, can only be known, if you try the product and decide yourself.

No I don't think so, I've bought expensive shirts and lost buttons because they're not sewn on well and more inexpensive ones that wear better than the pricey ones, It's just a label in a lot of cases. and of course there's personal preferences too some people just need to feel "important and expensive" that's why knock offs were invented.

I prefer sainsburys Classic Cola to coca cola!
I was once told tesco's value stuff is mostly normal brands anyway. They're beans are heinz or similar and the buscuits are from Mcvities! I was told this by a friend in their headoffice, whether this is still true i am not sure.....

As for Straighteners - GHD are pants! The £25 Remmington ceramics are so much better! I know 3 people who took their GHD's back after they used my remmingtons!

not neccessarily and besides, we're mostly paying for the brand name more than the actual product that we buy. i'm not into designer labels myself, as long as its of good quality, then i couldn't careless whether its from asda, aldi or some other store. coca cola may be slightly expensive compared to sainsburys and tesco's cola. but almost all brands of coke taste as similar as each others, so there's not that much of a difference really

Trial and error.... try starting out cheap and working your way up. If you find that you are happy with summat that costs £8.00 why move up to the one that costs £10.00?

I agree with you on the coffee as well. Asda Decaf is better than Nescafe Decaf to.

definitely no longer! as an occasion, technological awareness weight loss plan, that's particularly high priced, is absolute crap. i'd particularly feed Pedigree than that stuff. presently i'm getting the Kirkland Signature from Costco, that's a exceptionally stable (corn unfastened!) nutrition at a superb cost, for many of my canines. yet for my 2 with yeast themes, i'm getting flavor of the Wild, and for my 2 skinny picky eaters i'm getting ProPlan Salmon and Rice. i'm prepared to spend extra for good components, i'm in no way lowering so a procedures as to feed Ol' Roy or crap like that.

All good things in lfe are free. Starting from this principle, stuff the brands and find 'the best for you', giving consideration to both your own tastes and your own budget.

Your answer to the question is in the asking! sometimes even though companies reckon their products are the best of the best, sometimes they let us down,e.g." Heinz" baked beans don`t taste the same anymore yet," Happy Shopper" baked beans I could die for!if I could find them.
