Yes, your hard drive most likely has S.M.A.R.T technology built in and is warning you to backup your data. Continued use will make the problem worse. Get it to a pro asap if you want to save your data.

I had the same thing happen to me! What I would do is backup everything like everyone else said to do but I would then go out and buy a new HD right away or as soon as you can! Then I would replace it right away and put the old one in a safe place so if and when the new HD fails you can put this one back in so you are not without a computer until you get a new one again! I am on my second HD after mine said the Imment failure predicted and boy was it nice to have the old one while I waited to get the new HD replaced! Also I would go and find all your drivers for your computer if you are going to install a different size HD because recovery disc's don't have everything some of the times when you change types of hard drives! I would just get all the info about your system and it's hardware and the drivers before you take out this one! prepare for problems so you have the answers if you do have problems! I will leave some links for you so if you have an hp computer u can just put your product number in and find your stuff easier! Also if you look over to the right side of the page in one of these links you will see where it says you can buy recovery disc's if you don't have them! Mine were only 27 dollars! Good luck!

Your hard drive is probably dying. You probably wont be able to boot into windows with your Hard drive.. You need to put in your windows cd and boot to it. There when it asks you what to do hit "r" to go into the recovery console. At the prompt type chkdsk /r and see how bad the damage is.. It will attempt to repair your hard drive by marking bad sectors in your MBR, so that your hard drive doesn't try to write to those spots..

That message indicates that your hard drive is not working well. You can test is by installing a software called SpeedFan, select the S.M.A.R.T. tab and select your hard drive from the drop down box.

Essentially, you need to backup your hard drive and replace it.

The computer needs a certain percentage of free space to perform functions. You might have too many programs, not enough memory space,or too many fragmented files. Go to C-net.com and download the free Ccleaner program. It cleans up your registry, cleans out cookies, and makes it simpler to add/remove programs.
