To Stephen H - The correct answer is Rick Barry. Go back and re-check your facts.

THE ABA DECIDED TO USE THE SCORING AVG AS THE DETERMINANT AND NOT THE TOTAL POINTS. ALSO THEY USED A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF GAMES PLAYED THAT YEAR. BARRY ONLY PLAYED IN 35 GAMES BUT AVERAGED 34 PPG.

Rick Barry led all 3 in single season scoring average.

NCAA (1965) - 37.4
NBA (1967) - 35.6
ABA (1969) - 34.0

To rebut against Stephen H:
Go to this website and you will see Rick Barry having the second highest single season point average ever in the ABA in 1969 with 34.00 ppg. It's possible they did not honor Rick Barry as the leader because he only played 35 games but he did lead the league in scoring in 1969.

Wilt Chamberlain?
I'm not sure of the ABA title, but I know for a fact that he led the NBA for like 6 straight years in scoring, and is currently #2. Also led the NCAA for a year I think.

Never happened. I just looked up on basketball-reference. A player who led the ABA in scoring like Dr J never led the NBA in scoring.

To guy who said Rick Barry: (sosa): In 1969, Larry Jones led in the ABA (28.4) not Barry.

EDIT: All right. I have been proven wrong.
