Do they matter in a relationship ?

I think looks matter definitely but they are by no means the most important thing in a relationship!! I thinks its important to look good and make an effort for each other. Lets not forget that looks are nearly always the first thing we go on when forming a new relationship before we know anything about a person we judge them on their looks - its human nature. I thinks its important you fancy one another however in the long term compatibility and personality are far more important!

Depends on what you mean by "matter".
If you're looking for approval from your mates for having a gorgeous g/f or b/f, or you worried what they'll say if you don't have a hottie. Then you don't deserve anybody.
Or the other way around, are you worried that your looks matter? No, not to the right partner, particularly if you've already started a relationship.
If your partner criticises your looks on a regular basis, get out before you get crushed.

Looks do matter, as that it was people will notice about you first. However it is not enough on its own to sustain a relationship, once you get to know and love someone, the looks part is not as important as everything else.

Relationships begin when u have good looks.... its later u discover the real person. Unless u don't look good n attractive, getting involved in a relationship is almost impossible.
And if the real person inside is not nice n good, good n sexy look won't be able take the relationship farther.

Obviously looks matter to a certain extent, but I think it's more about percieved looks than actual looks... an average jo(e) dressed nicely who has a air of confidence and a good personality looks more attractive than a total hottie who is loud, obnoxious and dressed like a slob.

I dont know. I know it sounds shallow, but when you first meet someone looks do play their part. Personality also does obviously. But once you're in a relationship, the emotions develop, and looks are less and less important

no as long as u wash urself and wear fresh clean clothes
what question is that ? maybe some get attracted before they get involved with someone but if u can call it a relationship means that u have checked all u wanted from that person

I think there needs to be an initial attraction, but once you get to know the person that is the most important thing.

Yes, they are the first attraction, and yes always. You have to keep yourself looking good, both for your self esteem and to make your partner feel proud to be seen with you. ( Who want`s to walk around with a tatty old slob?)
