Mid Jan is Shadow period of winter in India. Whole North India will be still enjoying sub 10`c temp. South India is best place. Where the temp does not go below 18 during that period.
Blore is good is again urban. If you to be in small town can select Mysore, Mangalore or even Kochi. Away...... from all noises, Munnar, Chickmagalore, Ooty or even Kodaikanal will work for you. Cost wise Otty is the costliest but has all facilities. Chickmagalur is small town and Dist HQ. Other places are really remote.

Down in the deep South is always good. Night temperatures may dip into the upper twenties on cold nights, but it's mostly in the upper thirties or low forties unless a cold front is passing through.
The Gulf Coast states are a good place to start if you want a temperate vacation spot in January. Florida has highs in the upper seventies and is geared for tourists. Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi are still recovering a bit from the hurricanes, but some places are offering discount vacation fares to get the tourists back into Louisiana. You could get a premium vacation at a more reasonable rate.

mid jan bangalore is the place to be in india. its climate is cool, u hv plenty to see at B'lore right from malls,pubs,shopping arcades,temples,everything. Mysore is 3 hrs drive away , where too u have lots to see. coorg is another hill station 4 hrs from b'lore. since its centrally located with direct airlinks both nationally and internationally, its probably the right place. Also its generally safe (provided u take usual precautions) and has a good night life as well. it generally has a cosmopolitan feel to it.
