I had a very close friend whom I had known for 12 years who happened to be male. I was a bridesmaid at his sisters wedding and he was an usher. As I was getting into my dress in his sisters bedroom he walked in, apologised and walked out ( I was in my underwear) however on that day our friendship ended and although I see him regularly at gatherings & parties etc he cant even look at me. Why is it? He is a mature guy, 26 - I didn't think he would react like this.

Some guys are funny that way and somewhere down inside him, guilt of some sort is operating. Go to him and say something along the lines of "Look turkey, don't throw away a close friendship that we both treasure because of a dumb thing that happened. We're both bigger than that. You didn't deliberately do anything to hurt me and I didn't do anything to deliberately hurt you. Now, give me a hug (or whatever you feel is appropriate) and let's get on with it."

He could still be suffering from severe embarressment. Think about how he reacted when he saw you. He may feel he cannot look at you in the same way anymore. Talk to him. Explain your feelings about what happened.

He may have a crush on you. Or may feel like you don’t want to talk to him because of the embarrassing situation. Either way ask him what is going on to cause this problem in your friendship.

is it possible that he's just really shy and embarrassed? since you seem to feel fine about what happened, why don't you just bring it up? if you talk about it casually, find some humor in it, and tell him you miss the way things used to be between the two of you, it may help him to get over his awkwardness.

It may be embarrassment, it may be that he realises he's attracted to you, he may be worried what you think of him now ... there could be many explanations for it. But give it time, and in time, once the memory fades, he may come round and be a friend again.

maybe he likes you and is just embarrassed over seeing you like that. 26 isn't necessarily that mature.

Maybe he is attracted to you and scared that you do not feel the same way. Try talking to him.

Embarrassment. You need to confront him. If he can't open up, i think it is time to check his maturety. Did you ever think that maybe he really is attracted to you?
